Hello,
I have a simple question. My company is using a box running SCO Unix 7.1.1, and this box keeps asking us to change the root password every month wjhich is rather annoying. Does anyone know how to stop this?

Well, really that's not a bad thing, but you can change password expiration either through Scoadmin->Account Manager
or from the command line.

From account Manager, highlight root, and then choose User->Password Controls. Choos Expiration and set it as you like, including Infinite.

From the command line, simply do

passwd -x 0 root

to have it never expire, or pick a number you like.

passwd -s root

will list the current attributes; the last number you see is the expiration time.
