Root password recovery

Prior Admin took root password with them.. Do not have emergency recovery disk. SCO Unixware 2.01, is their a way to "break" the boot cycle to enter single user mode? Or is their another way to get into the system so I can change root password?

Not familiar with that version, but normally refer the problem to anyway. Some good help there.
