I have recently entered an office with a server 2k3 setup and 12 xp SP3 Pc's connected through one Switch. Seems like a very simple setup but no user accounts will roam! And always give the error "windows cannot laod your roaming user profile blah blah blah Event ID 1521 Detail - The network name could not be found. at logon. Doesn't matter what user account is used or what computer the user logs onto...

Problem I have is that the computers can access the network location and permissions on the user profile folders are set to allow the username that is supposed to have access to have full access.

The one thing I have noticed is that a "net view" command returns no records exist result? And the network shares are not visible on my network places although they are accessible if you navigate directly to them.

Also even after the error at logon (event id 1521) the users desktop icons and my documents appear and are taken from the user profile folder on the server!

Netbios over TCP/IP is disbaled on all network connections. The DC is setup correctly and the users are setup correctly in AD with the correct UNC's set to their profile paths. Group policy manages to apply to the machine at logon. I can ping the server IP and name.

i've so far used up my own knowledge and thinking I may be looking at this problem a bit to closely, what else can I try? What am I missing?

I don't mind your horrible comments if i'm being stupid and will take them on the chin willingly! :)
