Please help,

I have been asked to put together a support contract for some Rolm 9751 PBXs. Can anyone out there confirm if these are the same as the Siemens switches and would a competent Siemens Engineer be able to programme and maintain the Rolm?

Any help would be very much appreciated

THE SIEMENS HI-COM SWITCH ARE NOT THE SAME, THEY HAD TO COME UP WITH A NEW SWITCH BECAUSE IBM OWNS THE RIGHTS TO THE 9751 SOFTWARE. THE SOFTWARE ON THE 9751 IS EASY TO USE AND USER FRIENDLY, IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO INPUT YOU JUST TYPE A ? AND ALL YOUR OPTIONS ARE PRINTED.

Most Siemens Hicom Techs have used the 9751 if they've been with the company for a while. I was trained on the 9751 and eventually had to be trained on the 9006. I don't like it, especially since they came out with the 9006.6 because they took away EMML. I'm a line command Tech and I can't stand this GUI stuff. But I've gotten used to it.

9751's are good systems. They are the last real reliable systems out in the market. I can't tell you how many Avaya cards I've replaced. While, with the 9751, I rarely have to replace anything. The only issue is when you start integrating them with outside voicemail systems like an Octel. It can get a bit tricky but is still reliable.

Good luck.
