I have created rollovers using the poloygon slice tool. On some of these rollovers, the rollover behaviour extends beyond the hotspot marked area to the slice guides...which should not appear.

I have spent hours trying to fix this problem and am not having any luck, I know that there must be a simple solution any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm slightly confused by your explaination (being able to see it would make it easier) but are you saying you have slices AND hotspots?
The rollover effect is usually attached to a slice, and if you have created you second layer separatly instead of copying it and recolouring etc and the slice isn't lined up exactly for both states this could be causing your problem.
If you have slices but want the roll over effect just on an additional separate hotspot, this also might be causing the problem.
Is there any way you could put a graphic online so we can see what the problem is?

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..
