Rollover loads different images

I'm looking for a tip on how to have one static image area at the top of a page and below it four small thumbnails, that when the user hovers over a thumbnail it's larger image will appear in the main image area.

I hope that makes sense. I'm assuming I'd create a series of hidden layers that will have higher z-index values that will appear just over the static main image, but am open to any suggestions.

You can do it with CSS too.
But to save me explaining, take a look at Eric Meyer's site for some guidance.

Thanks to all - ended up doing a swap image but naming the main image as the one to be replaced when the smaller thumbnail rolled over with the full size image. Whew!
