"Weblogic and Websphere - Both Weblogic and Websphere are designed to natively support the JSP and EJB architecture. They are both full-featured web servers that support a variety of server side archetectures, including CGI-BIN and Java based solutions."

I got this explanation from internet. I'm little bit confused here. Does Websphere includes webserver also ? I know some people using Websphere as well as HTTP Server. I really appreciate if anybody expains the role of Websphere in web based applications.

Thanks

WebSphere does include a webserver (at 9080 port by default), but to harness the production capabilities of webserver, you are not supposed to use the in-built webserver of websphere. WAS does support many webserver like apache, IIS, iplanet. You can install any of these and pug-in WAS with the web server.

WebSphere includes the function of a Web server.
But it is a function after a version 4.0x.
