hi,
what is the differrent between Role and privileges for users of college database which consists of student, depthead, DBA, Registrar Administrator, course leader, principal....?????

Regardless of the application, a role is a named set of privileges. A privilege is an attribute that allows a user to do something (create a table, select from a table, etc). So your question is similar to "what is the difference between a box of crayons and a crayon?". One is a collection of the other.
