Im running exchange 2000, and I have one message in one users mailbox, that causes his mail to crash while trying to download it.
I cannot delete it from the M Drive/mbx/... and it comes back with an error like "file has been moved or is not on that path"
Tried using exmerge on just that mailbox and got "Error copying message with subject ' xxxxxxxxxx ' in folder '\Inbox'. (MAPI_W_PARTIAL_COMPLETION)"
Can anyone shed some light on how I can remove it. Otherwise Ill need to do an offline rebuild of the databases. I wanted to change the world but God won't give me the source code.

First I have to warn you that that you should never delete anything from the M: Drive .... it can cause some very strange results.

There are two things you I can think of you can try. The first is very simple .... try holding own the SHIFT key when pressing delete on the message. (This will bypass the Deleted Items folder and directly delete the message)

the other why (though I haven't tried this ;) ) would be to export all the account ot a PST file. Then delete the account. Re-create it and import the PST file back in again (but with a filter ignoring this message.)

Hope this helps.

Its amazing that the most basic fixes are the easiest but get completely missed because your trying to think of the technical way to fix it. I tried the first thing but it didn't work.

However, as the user is running Express, all the mail is stored on his local machine so I didn't need to export anything. One deletion of mailbox, one creation of mailbox and voila.

I would suggest that exporting everything to .pst and then reimporting it would probably work without a hitch.

Thanks for your help

You can also installthe latest mdac and connect to the exchange server through access and delete the record.
This also works well when the spamers sent all the flame mail to my box 18000+ one querry and they all were gone.
