I have a Rockwell 56K modem at the PC at my house.
It use to get me a speed of 48K when I had Prodigy
as my internet provider. Now I hwve AT&T and the max speed that I can get from it is 28K. I spoke with a tech at AT&T
and according to him, I need to upgrade my modem via the web
because it differs from one provider to another. I have the slight suspicion that the reason for such a slow speed is the I have 4 extensions in my apartment. I haven't had time to trouble shoot that area. Has anyone gone through this?
And if the AT&T tech support guy is right, can anyone give me a web site where I can download the upgrade for my Rockwell modem?

Get drivers at my modems page.
The tech is partially right, too much other stuff on the phone line, or too long a line can cause problems, but I've run straight to the box outside the house and got 49,333 then put 75 feet of extention on it, and still get 49,333
Your mileage may vary. Cheers,
Jim
