I had a new sound card installed along with Soundblaster software. Now my Rockwell standard k56 modem doesn't work. The system keeps detecter a 56K SpeakerPhone PCI modem and installing it. This doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling the speaker phone modem and reinstalling the standard modem. This doesn't seem to work. I get a message telling me to check my modem connection or turn it on and off. Any suggestions. The modem was moved from one slot to another but was not changed otherwise.

First, you need a complete driver set for your modem, the RIGHT one...
Boot to safe mode, remove all modem(s) and com ports from device manager.
Restart, reinstall.
There is no such thing as a "Standard 56k modem" for Windows, there's ALWAYS a newer/better/original driver for it. Cheers,
Jim
