When I perform volume configuration update from ROBOT INVENTORY from Manager and Device Manager, I got an error
'robot inventory failed: Robot number does not exists (214)'
Would anyone know what it means? Many thanks!
are the services running on the media server? Have you recently changed the drive on the media server? Are the robot and drive listed under device management?
I only have 1 media server.
I didn't change any drive on the media server, I do realize one of the drives is not on the tape drives list under Device Hosts, the person orginally set up the configuration is no longer here, I cannot confirm if it was purposely set up like that
robot 0 and drive are listed under device manager. I only have 1 robot.
The backup is running fine, only when I try to update the inventory I get this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
07/17/2003 11:13:37
Robot: TLD(0) on calgary2
Operation: Inventory
--------------------------------------------------------------------
robot inventory failed: Robot number does not exist (214)
Are you running 4.5 adn Windows 2000 - I will assume so:
Make note of the "Storage unit group", "Storage Unit", "Tape Drive(s)", and "Robot". Write all the information (Drive type, formats, scsi etc) down and delete everything in that order. Reboot your master server - As strange as it sounds.
Once back in ...
Click on "Media and Device Management" - "Devices" - "Robots" - "Actions" - "New" - "New Robot". You should be able to browse to the robotics unit on the media server. After that add the drives in a similar way - All the drives and be sure that you select the type correctly as in TLD etc.
After that create the storage units and storage unit group - Reboot the master again and then try to inventory.
