What disadvantages are there using Robertson screws. I've noticed on most jobs in the last few years the Fixture Installers only use the Robertson on wooden components.

Robertson had been the choice for deck builders for quite some time now. It seems most stainless steel deck screws only come in robertson. If they were deck screws and not Drywall screws that may be why. My only guess is that the bit doesen't ride out as easily causing sharp edges like you sometimes can get from phillips.

There are no real disadvantages. It has been the standard in Canada for about 15 years. The only minor glitch is that you can't really crew on any kind of an angle. Other than that they only really have about 3 sizes, and you'll only use two normally (less tools to carry!)
