Does anyone know of either 1) a utility that reads/edits windows roaming profile .dat files (preferably Win2k) or 2) where the structure of these files is defined so I can write such a utility.

Thanks,

regedit certainly allows you to view ".reg" file information or the registry itself but as near as I can tell it does not allow you to look at "ntuser.dat" files themselves.

We use roaming profiles and occasionally have corrupted ntuser.dat files. We would like to be able to do a postmortum on the file and hopefully fix the cause of the problem.

Slip of the keys - I meant RegEdt32. You can load users ntuser.dat as a hive and edit it as you will.

HTH

ntuser.dat is the registry hive "HKEY_Current_User".

Do you know how to perform the same action for NT platforms. I had heard REG Load would work but it fails for multiple keys such as USER.

thanks

Oops strike
the paramters must have changed for reg between OS versions or the docs were wrong, REG Load does work nicely!
