Roaming Profiles

I have a problem with roaming profiles on Windows 2000. I think I have found the source of the problem, but not sure how to rectify this. The ntuser.ini on the user areas sometimes do not update, which causes Windows to add a local profile ie. username.xxx. I found if I delete this file, the profile will then update during logoff.
Has anyone had this problem?
