Roaming Profiles Problem

I have one laptop that, after Panda for Desktops was installed, refused to allow any account with a roaming profile to log on. I can logon with the domain admin, local admin and a couple of other account that have local profiles. If I try and logon using an account with a roaming profile it hangs and I eventually give up after and 30minutes of apply personal settings.

I get and EventID of 1521 and if I follow the link to the help and support centre it takes me to KB article 831651. I phoned MS support and they provided me with the hotfix mentioned in the article. I tried to install it but it tells me that the version installed is newer than the one in the hotfix, which is true but I thought it would be worth a try.

I've had the problem before (after Office 2003 Updates) and performed a system restore to correct the problem. The user allowed an update in last week and it was ok until today.

The user can login to any other machine with no problems.

Has anyone managed to get round this?

Thanks

Robert

Thanks for your reply.

I’m sure it's not Panda. I can login other accounts with local profiles only with no problems and the user can log in to other computers that already have Panda installed.

The error in the event log points to a problem with the user not being able to contact the roaming profile folder on the server. Since the user has logged on for the last few months on that laptop with no problems and can log on to other machines and the permissions on the roaming profiles have the user set with full control I'm thinking that installing Panda and the problem is just a coincidence.

Thanks again

Well, here's a shot in the dark....

Make sure that your first DNS entry on the laptop is pointed to your PDC. The second DNS entry can be pointed to your first DNS server.
