Roaming profiles: Old profile returns on logon.

Roaming profiles have been set up on our domain for quite a while and until recently had been working correctly. A few months ago the GPO redirecting user data to the file server was deleted. I recreated the GPO with what I believe to be identical settings as before. Old users are still working correctly (presumably because the old GPO settings are still in effect).

As I've created new users I've experienced the following problem: When a user logs in, it successfully pulls down a copy of the network profile and stores it locally. The user can then make changes to their desktop, and these can be visibly seen to take effect on the network copy of the profile. When the user logs off their machine, the (now old) local copy of the profile overwrites the network version, effectively removing any of the changes they've made, including restoring any documents they've deleted, etc.

Can anyone help me with how to fix this?
