Hi all,

I have a customer who is using roaming profiles. The server OS is SBS 2k3 with SP2 and the clients are all Windows XP.

Everything was working fine untill a user who normally uses Word 2002 on their normal PC logged onto a laptop which has Word 2007 installed.

When this user uses Word 2002 on their usual PC now, it crashes as soon as you launch it.

If I log onto their normal PC it works fine so I know it isn't an overall installation problem on this PC.

I think something has syncronised in her profile causing the Word problem.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone seen this before? Any ideas? All appreciated.

Thanks.

I have seen similar with Office 2000 Pro & Premium installed on random machines many years ago, roaming profiles became corrupted, we ended up standardising all the Office installations, and creating new profiles for the affected users.

As far as your problem goes, I would imagine the issue is similar. There is a known issue with Outlook 2007 & 2002 & roaming profiles, which may or may not be related? (sorry, no link to hand at the mo, should google quite easily though)

Solution? I would go for an upgrade from 2002 and a new profile for the user, or workaround and change her account to local profile, set one up on each PC

My 2c :)
