I have a client that has a new group of DID's from 2300 to 2399. No problem with these. They have a few existing advertised numbers they want to keep. One of them ends in 9479. This number will be ported soon and turned from a LOOP start to a DID. When I enter 9479 as the RN it says INVALID. I checked the DNs, HG, for a conflict. Of course when I dial 9 I get an outside line on the PRI.

Any suggestions?

I've personally came across that issue several times and the best way to get around it is to work with your LEC and have them send a different digit besides that 9. You can have them send 7xxx and that saves you the trouble of it interfering with your dest code.

A third suggestion is to change the RN Length to fewer digits.

For example, you could change the RN Length to 3 digits. The CO will still send 4 digits, but the Norstar system will ignore the first digit.

From the information you posted here, you would end up with RNs 300-399, and RN 479. You'll have to check the other advertised numbers to make sure there won't be any conflict with the rest of your numbering plan.

A fourth suggestion is to ask the CO to send more digits.

For example, you could ask for 7 digits. You would have to change the RN Length accordingly.

From the information you posted here, you would end up with RNs XXX2300-XXX2399, and RN XXX9479. Once again, you'll have to make sure there won't be any conflict with the rest of your numbering plan.

It seems like you have plenty of options here.

Thanks for the help. I am going to to stick with the least complicated and take NorstarBoys suggestion. I hope Cox can do this otherwise my only other option is to have them make this a stand alone single party POTS line and call forward it to a DID number.
