I've developed programs that successfully used RMI locally, all files (client & server) reside in one directory. To run this program separated between 2 machines requires the stub definitions to be placed in the web server directory.

How does a client access those files to obtain the definitions?

Also, what's the meaning of the command to start the server below?
java -Djava.rmi.server.codebase= Server

thanks!
