I have a customer with three locations connected by a private wan, Location 1 is in Salt Lake City,UT Location 2 is in Las Vegas, NV and location 3 is in Phoenix, AZ.
Phoenix is on 5.0.5m
Las Vegas is on 5.06j
SLC is on 5.0.5m
I am trying to configure a print queue on Phoenix ( and eventually SLC when I get Phoenix to work) to print to a queue configured for a parallel printer (otc 850xl) on LV, this queue name is LV1 lpstat reports:
LV1 accepting requests since Tue Feb 04 13:59:27 2003
printer LV1 is idle. enabled since Tue Feb 04 13:59:27 2003. available.
I added the hostname of the Phoenix server to /etc/hosts.lpd.
I configured a queue on the Phoenix server to point to LV1 on the Vegas server:
LV1:\
:lp=:rm=192.168.100.15:ex:rp=LV1:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/LV1:mx#0
I can ping Vegas:
bradypho # ping 192.168.100.15
PING 192.168.100.15 (192.168.100.15): 56 data bytes

4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 20/22/30 ms

I also enabled LV1 on Las Vegas to accept remote jobs in scoadmin printer.
when I try to print to LV1 on Phoenix the job gets stuck in the queue waiting for LV1 to come up.
bradypho # lpstat LV1
bradypho.UUCP.com: waiting for 192.168.100.15 to come up
Req-Id Owner Size Date

I am pretty sure it is not the firewall blocking the requests as I have other queues setup on on Phoenix pointing directly to LPD enable printers in Vegas. I am at a loss! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
