Here are the specs for an RJ-48C (pinout)

RJ-48C Connector type: 8P8C modular connector
RJ48C is commonly used for T1 lines and uses pins 1, 2, 4 and 5. C= surface or flush-mounted

Pinout:

PIN 1 :RX Ring
PIN 2 :RX Tip
PIN 3 :Reserved
PIN 4 :TX RING
PIN 5 :TX Tip
PIN 6 :Reserved
PIN 7 :Shield
PIN 8 :Shield

Just want to check with the gurus before I start cutting wire... I can use Cat5e and have to buy RJ-48 term connectors right? Then I can either just cross 1, 2, 4, 5 or just cross everything... Just wanted to check.. Thanks

Cool. Thanks Lerdalt. That is exactly what I am doing.. Just going to use ATM IMA to group several (4) T1's to get a T3/OC3 equiv.. Just playing around!!!

I have made T1 crossovers from RJ45's and Cat5e myself several times for back to back T1, with WIC-1DSU-T1 cards. They don't have to be shielded unless they are being deployed into a smart jack or something...
