Have recently switched to cable and would like to make use of a spare netgear dg834g adsl wireless modem/router.

Current system:

- scientific atlanta cable modem
- linksys cablefast cable/dsl router

Plan:

- use adsl dg834g purely as an additional wireless connection/router
- make a cable to link from linksys rj-45 to adsl connection on dg834g

Question:

Would like to check whether the following plan is viable please? ... together with cable pinout and any instructions ... or equally a more effective way of going about it?

Any help most welcome.

Many thanks,
Eponymous

Shold be a straight thru cable 568B. You probably need to change the router from PPPOE to DHCP but that should be it

Chicagophoneman - thanks for this

Have located a cable pinout for the straight thru cable 568B and rj-45 jack ...

Do you have a cable pinout for the adsl jack please?

When you refer to router are you referring to linksys cablefast cable/dsl router or netgear dg834g adsl wireless modem/router also being used as a router? linksys seems to be automatically set to DHCP. If I need to change netgear to PPPOE could you please advise how?

Thanks again,
Eponymous
