I've used Riser Bond's 6000 TDR before, it was a very nice unit. Anyone else have experience with it?

I'm looking to pick up a nice graphical TDR for coax fault locating.

How about the more simple tempo 2520?

I picked up a Tektronix (now Tempo) TS90 off eBay a couple of years ago.

It has worked very well on every type of cable I have connected it to from telephone drops to romex, including various types of coax. It works on energized phone lines. Very handy when the phone guys cannot get the DSL to work and you can point out wet lines and bridged taps.

The TS90 is the bottom of the TelScout line and is designed for telephone applications however you can clip it to any type of cable and manually enter a VP and it works great. Tempo has a CableScout line aimed at the CATV market. The equivalent model would be the TV90.

My feeling is that either unit (or the more expensive 100 or 200 series units) would do quite well. They are very rugged. Many times I would be lost without the TS90.

I've used the Riserbond 6000 TDR, and Agilent's OTDRs before (although not much) and I found the riserbond interface to be a bit tricky.

I'll have to try the TS90. I've also used an older Tektronix 1503B, which I almost got off eBay today, but I got bidsniped, oh well.

I'm looking for a good pair/coax TDR with basic pair qualification ability as well. It looks like the TV90 is a nice product, but tough to find on the used market.

Anyone have any TDRs they reccomend?
