I have been trying to clone an image back to the RIS server using RipRep but I keep getting the RIS server does not contain the correct CD based image. How can I update the RIS server with the same image. I installed the OS using RIS but installed all the latest hotfixes, programs, etc which I believe is the whole reason why although both the RIS server and the newly installed client PC is running the same Service Pack. How do I updated the RIS source so I can use RipRep to clone this new image back to the RIS server? Please help, no help on the Internet thus far. Thanks.

There should be no issue with the hotfixes/patches but different service packs cause grief. Use the admin service pack to update the OS image on the RIS server, now install the OS to the PC, apply all the fixes, and then you can RIPREP the patched image back to the RIS server.

Hi,

Had this same problem but fixed it slightly differently than you asked. Rather than update the RIS image I just uninstalled the Hotfixes that change the ntoskrnl.exe which is what causes the error message.

The hotfix to uninstall is Windows Roll Up 826939, this includes Windows Update Q811493 which is one that updates the ntoskrnl.exe.
Another one I know of is Q317277 although I didn't have that one.

Hope this helps.
