Hi All

I am looking to build an xp image with sp2, but i was wondering before I copy the image back up to my server can I run windows update first??????????????

sure ya can..

If it were me though, I'd make one without the updates first.. just incase, or atleast until you know the one with the updates works fine when pushed else where.

Take a new computer, put a fresh install of the operating system, update it, add all the corporate applications. Run sysprep to clear the GUID and then do a network boot to your RIS server. Upload the image to your RIS server.

You can manage your computers by pre-creating accounts for your PC's on your RIS server (they are identified by the CID printed on the back of the PC, you get a list from the guy in the field). All the guy in the field has to do is network boot the PC to the ris. When done, the PC will be on the domain as a managed PC, Have the PC name you assign it, and is ready for users to log into.

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA
