I'm using the AOA DVD Ripper software to rip AVI clips from DVDs. When I try to edit the ripped AVI clips in Premiere, the files import o.k., but they won't play at all and rendering the clips doesn't do anything- the clips are completely blacked out.

Any suggestions on what's wrong? Maybe something to do with settings when I rip the clips? Btw, the clips play fine in Realplayer, WMP, etc.

Later versions of Premiere Pro and Elements can handle MPEG2 on the timeline, but earlier versions require a plug-in.

Safest to convert to DV AVI if you have problems with editing MPEG. Virtual Dub is one way.
