I'd like to rip an audio cd on my win2k box from my linux box. I have samba installed/working, the win2k cdrom drive is shared, and I've mounted the drive with smbmount. I can see the .cda files. But programs like cdda2wav and cdrecord look for a "device" using the option "-D $device". I tried using "-D /mount_point_for_winCDROM" but it no workee. Is this possible??

Thanks for any help on this.

Try unmounting the CDROM drive,
and then mount the Windows CD in the location of your cdrom filesystem (ie. /mnt/cdrom)

Fo ripping audio files you need Low-Level access to the CD-Rom.

What you are trying to do is as far as i know not possible
Samba does 'File' sharing, not device sharing ...
