I was wondering if anyone could tell me why NetWare 5.1 has RIP support enabled in INETCFG? Is this server acting as a router? Do I need RIP enabled? Thanks...

RIP in IPX mode builds information on where other Novell services are (Servers, workstations etc. ). If this is disabled for IPX, your IPX communications will not work assuming your network uses IPX.

RIP for TCP/IP, well if you have Novell's other NDS related service enabled which is SLP setup and configured, you may not have to use RIP under IP. If you are not using SLP, try disabling RIP and as long as everyone can still login and access the network drives etc, you will be ok.

As always, test what you do, and use random users to ensure that the change works for everyone before setting it in stone.
