Customer wants to have the 4602's in the corridors ring loudly. But if they adjust the volume it'sgoing down automaticly after a while.
I there a automatic gain control wich I can switch off?

I think that maybe you have the "reset volume after calls" option selected under the extension tab within Manager

Thank you Burlyman, but the Reset Volume is not selected.
The question is specific about the ringer volume.

One cause might be that volume changes unfortunately do not survive switch resets.

Sizbut,

That is an interesting suggestion, I will try that when I am on the site next time.

If that is really the answer, does somebody know a way to remotely (through the manager)set the ringer volume at a higher volume

for DT phones the system added a user shortcode *Rinnger which holds all the settings
I beleve something similar have been used for DS handsets but sofar I have not had the time to anlalise what does what.

Still a serious challence:
The ringer goes down even if the system is not restarted.
The 4602's are used by elderly people who want the volume for the ringer high.

Meanwhile I updated the system to 3.0 (40) but I don't expect a difference

The volume of the ringer is still decreasing after a while.
Does anybody have a clue were to look?

If you're really stuck (and I suspect you are) what I would do is install analog phones in the hallways instead of IP phones. You can reuse the existing cabling and jacks, you just need to get the customer to pay for the extra analog port module if required.

Thank you Morrack,
I can't simply replace the IP-phones because they are connected to a remote PoE switch in a satelite equipment room and the Phone 30 is in the main equipment room. If i follow your suggestion the customer has to invest in new cabling from the MER to the SER.

Is it really automatically going down or after a merge ? Maybe you could try to change a 4602 with a 4610 to see if it has the same problem. You could also put an SOE in with a couple of analog phones. How many phones are we talking about ?

Accoording to the customer the volume is gradually going down.
We are talking about eight phones, these phones are all ring at the same time at different floors. In the elderly home we are talking about ar only 2 nurse working at different floors and they have to answer the incomming calls as wel so when they are inside a room they need to hear the phone on the corridor ringing.

Three other possibilities to consider:
1. One is a MultiVoIP FXS unit from Multi-tech. Will register with IP Office as H323 station (requires 3rd party IP Endpoint license). This will get you an analog station anywhere on the network. You could use one per floor as "loud bell"

2. Same scenario, but with one MultiVoIP unit - connected to overhead paging system - closing a contact for some sort of ring tone to be generated via overhead paging speakers.

3. Use analog station port at main control location, connected to contact closure to generate ring tone sound. Deliver to remote overhead paging system via Valcom "paging over IP" units.

Options 2 & 3 would be more viable if you had a zoned overhead paging system already in place...

Good luck.

I am not looking for a workaround, the phones should be working properly.
I just realized that the people (94) in the elderly home will all get their own IP-phone in a couple of weeks.
Because a number of them will have hearing problems, they probably want their ring volume high!.

I'm looking for a good solution to keep the volume of the ringer on the same volume.
