Have a system in that necessitates one device placed AHEAD of the system (caller id/cheap wireless solution).

Users complain that ringback is heard after the device is answered.

Anyway to turn off ringback on analog trunks, or make the meridian stop ringing on time?

Is there any way you can make the trunks Ground Start? (or are they?)

About 6 months ago someone had a similar need, having something ahead of the PBX. I don't think they found a solution, but if I come across that post, I'll link to it here.

Found it. thread798-1514370

The poster still has the thread marked for notification, so you might be able to get their attention (they get an email) by posting a follow up to it.

I'll try that.

No, they are not GS truks...and that's not a possibility, as the analog device ahead of the system would not be able to make outgoing calls.

Why is the Meridian even designed to ringback on plain old COT trunks? T1/PRI, etc sure, even analog tie trunks.....but POTS??

before t1's all we used were pots.. ground start none the less.. for some reason i can't understand your problem? your user calls out, hears ringback past answer from the far end? that would be a supervision problem.. change that to no in the rdb, test it and let us know what happens..

This makes sense, and I'll test it to see what happens.

I'm actually wondering if the supervision problem might be a problem on the CO side. Way back there was an old Vodavi Starplus system on these lines. Same thing...if the phone ahead of the system answered, the system phones continued to ring once or twice......of course the vodavi didn't provide ringback, so it wasn't an issue.

Interesting when you phrase it that way. I think your solution might be in the TIMR section of the Route. I have an old-old explanation of what those timers are here:

to test the co side, disconnect the switch and put a butt set across the line.. when that answers, as with a phone, you put a 600 ohm loop on the line.. currrent drops to 0 for under a second, then you have talk battery.. when the lec sees the loop, it will stop ringback period.. even if you answer during the ringback tone.. ringback is 720 cycle 48vac, and is not married to ring voltage (90vac) in any way
