We have a number of phones on the production floor. We'd like to have a "group extension" that rings all phones in that group. Is this possible, and how do I get there? Also looking for online tutorials for our norstar system that I just inherited (no docs found). I'm a network engineer (data) so please go easy on me.

Well that is all determined what software version you are running. 5.0 and above have Hunt Groups and that sounds like what you want.

Can you walk me through how to determine the software version?

Yeh, I'm trying to figure out how to get there as well. Voice is not my specialty, but it was thrust upon me when the previous person left. I'm totally new at phones, except the 3com NBX VOIP system.

Do you know how to get into phone system programming? Most folks around here will be a little iffy about telling you how to get into programming itself as you could be a disgruntled employee looking to cause mischief. I'll tell you where to go from the main menu:

Terminals&Sets - Press the lower right button that has lit up on your phone until you see
Maintenance - Press the upper right button that has lit up on your phone.
System Version - Upper right button
SP: 30 XX XXNAT

What does it say? Also 4.0 software and higher has hunt groups........

When I do feature **266344 and enter the password, I then see:

Terminals & Sets

When I press lower right button, I get:

Lines
Services
Sys Spd Dial
Passwords
Time Date
System Programming
End of list

ah, no. No one seems to know that one. I've tried contacting the previous phone person here, but it's doubtful they knew the installer password either.

A qualified vendor can get it for you. When you call some in your area just explain your situation, and ask if they have the tools/ know how to obtain the password. While they are there they can set up your ring group for you.
