Ring Group Caller ID

I have a situation where we have a ring group programmed with a few analog extensions. Internal callers call this ring group that is answered by one of the analog phones. The desire is for the analog phone to receive caller ID when the phone rings so if needed they can locate where the call originated from. The analog phones if dialed individually display proper caller ID, when dialed from the ring group no caller ID. I have checked the COS for the ring group and believe it is setup to display caller ID if it is possible. Does the MCD pass caller ID to calls that ring to a ring group? Am I missing something, which is entirely possible, if you don't believe me just ask my wife......

IT show anything like the ring group prime.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

For ring groups and IP phones the caller id is not shown until a phone is answered and whilst ringing it shows the group name/number (IIRC). So an analog phone will probably not show anything.....however one thing to check is the mode of the clip in the COS for the phones and maybe change it from BT to bell core or vice versa and of course it depends on what the analog phone is expecting.....

Thank you for the replies. The analog phones do show the prime for the ring group number. The sets also do show called ID when dialed directly is it possible if the clip mode is changed in the analog setup that this could change what is displayed when the ring group is dialed? Currently I have the COS for the analog phones displaying ONS caller name and number as well as set as class/clip set in advanced. I am sure this is in the setup of the COS of the ring group but was not sure if the ring group would display, on a ONS phone anything other than the prime of the ring group.

I've encountered this before using ring groups and IP phones on MCD 5.

In that situation the ring group will not display caller id while it is ringing. You will only see the ring group id. Once the call is answered you will see caller id. I believe that is so you can differentiate calls to your extension from calls to the ring group.

To get around this I wound up using a multicall button of the main extension on each phone. This allowed caller id to pass through and they could tell it wasn't a call directly to themselves by the lamp that was flashing. The downside was that they could not go absent/present from the ring group as needed.

The members of the ring group are analog sets so this does not help me, but thanks.
