I have a CM6 system with G650 media gateways and have RING-GEN alarms on two of the port networks. They only say 01 RING-GEN, they aren't the PS-RGEN alarms associated with the 655A power supplies. What could be causing these alarms?

Run a test environment PN then reference the Avaya CM Alarms, Events, and Logs PDF

We're all ignorant, just in different subjects.

Thank you all for the information but the alarm that is being generated is a RING-GEN alarm, not the PS-RGEN alarms. I've already done a test environment on each of the port-networks that the alarm is associated with and all tests pass. When the alarm shows in display alarms it doesn't indicate whether it's 1A or 1B or 1A00 or 1A15, 1B00 or 1B15. I read in a manual that the IPSI could generate a phantom alarm and recommends replacing the IPSI. Has anyone heard of this?

Command: display alarms
Command: display errors
Command: test environment 1

From your indication above, you may not have g650 cabinet for cabinet 1

Ring Generator for SCC (single carrier cabinet) is part of power supply

Code:
SCC cabinets in that release came with a 1217A power supply. These units have a
design flaw. They require that the breaker be reset to restore power if there is
any power fluctuation at all. Check your carrier power, if 1217A change them
out. Go to a 1217B or the older WP91153 L3.

You must be onsite to look at these power units. The types cannot be determined
remotely. Power breaker for an SCC cabinet is on the left side looking at the
rear of the cabinet.

If external power is DC Carrier Port Power Units must be 676B power units.

Hello, I have only G6650s in the system that's why this isn't making any sense to me as to why I'm getting the RING-GEN alarms and not the PS-RGEN alarms that are associated with the 655A power supplies.

Command: list cabinet
Command: display alarms
Command: display errors
Command: test environment 1

Please post output from commands above and look at the data for this in the Avaya Maintenance documentation.
