Hi,

I have a request to get a direct ring down line that will terminate from our office in Chicago which has Turret system to office in New York that has CUCM 6.1. I am thinking asking our carrier IPC to provide us a 2 wire line just like pots line on the NY side and put it on the FXO port.
I am not sure on how I will proceed on this request, please help.

Thanks.

Does the New York office have a PRI with DID lines? If so just program the DID number to a phone or where ever you want it to go.

Hi pndscm,

Direct ring down line is like a hoot line which is a dedicated line between 2 sites, usually terminates on dealing consoles.

Hope this helps

Here is what you can do.

First make sure you create a partition for the Ringdown, the a calling search space containing that partition.

IP Phone
Configure a line with any number and assign that Line to the Partition and CSS you just created for the RingDown.

FXO
Inbound

I'm assuming you have this configured in CM already. Assign your Attendant DN to point to the number you just configured on the IP Phone, and the port Direction is set for Bothways. Make sure the CSS is the same one you created for the Ringdown. The sameone you configured for the IP Phone.

Outbound

Go to Route Pattern and create a patter with a dummy number or some number your not using or doesn't overlap with any other number in your system. For a example you can assign #20, assign the partition you created for this ringdown, the same as the phone. For Gateway or Route List, select the gateway with the FXO port you configured. Click insert

Translation Pattern.

Create a translation Pattern with no patter. Assign the same partition you created for the ringdown, which is the same as the phone. For CSS assign the same you created for the ringdown, which should be the same as the phone. Under Called Party Transform Mask configure the same number as the Route Pattern you configured that points to the FXO port.

Once you lift the handset it will connect you right away. When they pick up the handset on the other end, the same line should ring.

Hope this helps.

I understood the type of line you were asking about. Wavesg method is correct but it sounds to me like half the answer. If you have a different type of PBX at the other site, Turret???, then you have to have a method to deliver the Ringdown to it. That's why I mentioned the PRI/DID in my question. Wavesg answer will get the call off the Cisco but it needs to get into the other system, either by a POTS line/FXO as you mentioned or with a PRI/DID extension.

PNDSCM I think Bulakeno explained that he was thinking of getting this to work via using pots line. My answer is not half way. It's a complete configuration given he has the FXO working. It doens't matter what type of line he has, the most important part of the configuration is how to get it to work under CM. If you are using a PBX, you can use PRIs or E&M cards. Getting this interfaces to work is rather simple.

Bulakeno let us know what type of trunks you're planning on using.

PNDSCM if you feel my answer is half way, can you complete the other half?
