I have a new provider supplying PRI. They have asked if the BCM will play ring back tone. Can anyone confirm this for me ?

What additional information do you require ?

Many thanks.

Will the customers PABX play the ring back tone?"

This is the question direct from their request form.
They do not elaborate any further.

Ask them what is a ring back tone. The BCM does not do tones it does rings.

Ring back tone to a provider is the tone that you hear when you dial a number to let you know the other end is ringing.

The BCM Has Long Tones (Feature 808) for DTMF. But you should be able to dialout without this feature by setting up your routes.

Hopefully that helps.

I have never heard of the PBX providing Ring Tone / Ring Back to the Exchange / CO on PRI lines only on Q-siq / DPNSS lines

out of interest what country are you in

The BCM won't supply ringback tone to a person making a call from the BCM, Ringback tone is normally supplyed by the Telco.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

BCM does provide ringback tone on inbound calls. For outbound calls, it's the responsibility of the local CO or if it's a PBX (SL100, BCM, Norstar), with T-1 trunks and DID, the PBX itself will provide the ringback tone.

Thanks for all your replies, I am still a little unsure as it is an unusual question and one I have not come across before. I will talk to my provider

Why does the telco want to know this and can they explain why they need that info?
