Is it possible to have our internal helpdesk number ring two cell phones.

for example:
we have extension 450 which currently just forwards to a helpdesk cell phone. I would like to do away with that cell phone and have the x450 ring 2 cell phones(my personal and a co workers cell) and whomever answers first gets the call.

Possible?

The first thought that comes to mind is the Mobile Extension product. It is not designed to do this but perhaps two monitoring extensions could have the appearance of 450 and make separate calls to the cell phones. Does anyone know if two monitoring extensions could monitor the same extension?

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

mcd 4 has something called personal rings groups.
you can have up to 8 devices ring simultaneously.

mcd4 obviously refering to the software version.
ext 450 would become your trigger number for an extension and 2 cell phones. you'd have to change your 450 ext number to something else or use a different trigger number...something like that;)

You could use mobility and ring groups.
Build a ring group, put your two desk phones in it,
Use mobility to ring the phones.

Thanks for all the tips. Looks as though I will need to update my release before I can use the new options.

When I find the solution that works best, I will post to update.

Thanks!

MCD has something called Dynamic extension where you can ring a number of devices ( at least 5 at one time )at one time. It is made up of two features:personal ring groups and external hot desking. You create a personal ring group but only Directory numbers can be in a personal ring group ( no speed dials ). With external hot desking you crate a hot desk profile and mark it as external. This allows you to enter in a cell or any external number. You then add these external hot desk numbers to the personal ring group and now when you call the personal ring group all devices ring. You can have it be busy if any device in the ring goup answers or leave it so the remaining devices ring on the second call.
Bad news you need to upgrade to MCD 4, buy external hotdesking and each external hotdesk profile you create, consumes a license. The good is if you answer one of the cell phones you can use codes to transfer the call put it on hold etc ( i.e the cell acts like a phone on the 3300 ).
