Hi,
Our users are now beginning to try using Dynamic Prompts for some published reports to our BOE XI R2 system.
( We, as admins, have tried to discourage using propietary
tools/processes, but users are in charge, sometimes)
Since I ( we) are new to these objects, a few questions:

I am unable to find ( at least easily) what rights they will need in order to access the repository and create/edit/use new Lists of Values for their reports,
and I need to know if other users can see( and edit maybe) all the LOVs in the repository or just those they ( or their group) have rights explicity defined for [ see first part of this question]?

Hi again,
I used SantaMufasa's rule ( Very knowledgeable Oracle forum poster):
Mufasa's 1st Rule said:
One test with worth 100 expert opinions.

I created a basic user and gave it full control over our Dev folder..Opened ( as that user) an existing report in that folder in CR XI R2 and added a dynamic prompt to the report - saved it back to the enterprise and it worked fine.
I also could see and use all the existing Prompts and their LOVs as well.

That seems to indicate that no 'special' rights are needed.

Correct?

Hi,
The saga continues ( and gets clearer):

On one of our BOE systems ( we have 2, Dev/Test and Production), the 'Everyone' group has Edit permissions to
the Cascading Dynamic Prompts section of the repository an any user can create/use Dynamic prompts in published reports..In the other system, that is not set and users cannot publish with Dynamic Parameters..

I am concerned that anyone who has edit rights to that section can alter other users' objects.
Is that a valid concern or is the ability to edit a particular Prompt object limited to its creator?

Hi Turkbear,

i think to remember that you have to set the rights with Business View Manager.

Look after starting Business View Manager under View > Repository Explorer. Then the Explorer for the Repository appears at the left side. When you use the right mouse button on a folder you get something like "Edit rights".

There you can modify the rights for groups and users as you like.
