Hi,

I need to choose proxy server software. Could you please suggest me which one will do the work for me:

Here is why I need proxy server:

We have 10 different offices around the city. They process credit cards using 3rd party website. That 3rd party site is only accessable from certain IP address. It means that we give them our IP address and they create access to their website for that IP address.

It's quite expensive to have static IP addresses in each office. So we are trying to have just one office with static IP address and everybody else on dynamic. In order to do it we need to setup proxy server (for external connections).

I need proxy server software that would meet following requirements:

1) It has some sort of user authentification
2) It will allow me to filter destination IP addresses. (I just want to create a access to creditcard company website through that proxy server and nothing else

What would be the best solution?

Thanks,

Alex

have you looked at squid? probably your safest/cheapest/easiest bet.

if you run it on a unix box with firewalling turned on then you should have a completely safe server on the internet.
