For some reason, right-clicking on an image file (.jpg, .png, etc.) in Windows Explorer takes about 3 seconds or so for the menu to show up. This also occurs when I hit the Delete key. This only happens with image files. With files such as .txt, .exe, etc. the menu pops up right away. Oddly enough, selecting multiple image files, then right-click on them, the menu file pops up immediately. How would you go about speeding that up?

Have you checked from Safe Mode? Or with a different user in Normal Mode?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

You can try turning on cacheing thumbnails. You could also turn off thumb nailing all together I think.
