I'm working on an .mdb that I inherited from someone else (and different machine--Acc2K in both). I find that I can't get the right click menu to offer the design view for the form when right clicking in the usual areas. What gives? Is there a low-level property that was set by the other machine that I don't see? It's not that big a deal in itself, but it bugs me that I can't figure out why...

Thanks!

In the database window goto the Tools menu and click on the Startup option.

Is the tick box
Allow Default Shortcut menus
ticked ?

- That's certainly how I'd go about causing the functionality that you describe.

It's also possible that the database designer created a custom short-cut menu for your forms and took the design view option off the menu. I've done that before in order to stop users from getting into design view that way.

See if there is something listed in the short cut menu bar property of the form. If there isn't, then the designer probably just took the design option off of the normal menu. You can customize these under View --> Toolbars ---> Customize and check short-cut menus. (That's Access97 BTW, not sure if they changed the menus around in 2k or not)

Thanks Maq & GLS!
It was the Shortcut Menu property of the form. I usually make MDE's for users so I haven't paid enough attention to some of these other properties!
