How do i go about writing a rich textarea control, like the ones you see on Yahoo/hotmail/ebay ???

I'm just wondering how they actually do it and how i'd go about writing one.

any help much appreciated.

Rob

First things first - you need more of a spec than just "like the ones on Yahoo".

You need to define a target browser audience - this will affect things like the functionality you can provide.

Then you need to define what features you need - which in turn may affect your previous decision about browser audience.

Once you have that, it will be a lot easier to determine how the control will be coded... It will also give you a better understanding of what your own requirements are (clearly you don't have this at the moment!).

Hope this helps,
Dan

Ok, sorry, wasn't a very descriptive question.

It's for IE5.5 and above only.
I needs the following functionality;
Font
Font color
Bold, italic, underline

would be great if it could select a colour like the hotmail one does!

i'm thinking it would be best as an HTC.

At the moment i'm looking into creating an Editable IE window, which seems to be doing the trick.

Although the line spacing i can't seem to figure out. Hotmail is fine, ebay is the same as mine. (ps. not the line-spacing attribute)
