Ribbon Connector

Here is one for the 5 stars of the forum...
what I am looking for, if this animal exist, is a ribbon connector that will connect 2 supp backplanes...any help on this...Thanks

I once spoke to a Custom Cable Maker about this, but that was long ago, and never went past the talking.

So, perhaps you can find someone like that.

Gotta give me a little more time, Dan. I've got a very large wiring job in Brea to finish up and then the Winternationals to prepare for.

I won't be offended if you find connector help elsewhere, but I'd be neat if you tried my networking solution (an easier solution) before you went with the ribbon route.

No worries Tim...I have passed this customer off to someone else..
they can figure out what needs to be done...I didn't realize this
was such a out of the box issue...Thanks to both of you for the

And I called Digi-Key this morning about it. It took A LOT of explaining. What you're looking for is a ribbon cable with a 100 pin edge connector on one side (dual edge with 50 pins per edge) and the opposite on the other end. There are PC cables that are very similar characteristically, except that the Merlin/Legend connector needs to be 5" in width rather than the typical 1.5" or 2" connector.

I've got a drawing half done for a Digi-Key tech named Gary Johnson. He feels that if I can finish and submit it to him that he will either find such a cable or quote me on a cost.

Should I proceed?
