I know how to restart the lpd service in Xwindows. Is there a way to do it in the command environment? James Collins

Does that stop then restart or just restart the lpd service? If it just restarts then I should be fine killling the current lpd service then going to /sbin/service and restarting lpd correct? James Collins

Yes, its stops and then starts the daemon. The service command can be used for most scripts in the /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory. As long as the scripts are written to allow these options.
