RH7 and roaming profiles. What ha been your past...

experience with this. I am using them now, however sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. Servers are setup the same everytime. Any thoughts or ideas? James Collins

Sorry. I have been having issues with roaming profiles in RH7 for Windows 2000 OS's. Sometimes the profile works fine. Sometimes it does not even come up or error out. My question is has anyone had similar issues with roaming profiles for Windows 2000 PC's under RH7? If so did you get them fixed? What was the issue/fix? James Collins

No. I once experimented with using roaming profiles with
the old 2.1 samba for a win 9x environment and the test
lab worked okay.

Could you give the samba version and some error entries
from both the win2k clients and the samba service?

Not at the moment. My thinking is it is DNS since Windows 2000 relies heavily on DNS. Could this be the case? James Collins

Possibly..is samba acting as a wins server and/or doing
proxy dns for you(?), have you allowed your win2k clients
to use the samba box as their wins server?
testparm and look at your global settings for this
info.
