Hello
I have a RHES3 update 4 server that the database has gotten to large on. I need to write all my backups to a windows server. That is all I have available :(. What is the best way to do this?

NFS?
Samba?

I can only do NFS if I have a Winblows NFS server correct?

Also my Nix box will need to be part of the domain correct?

Please help thanks in advance.

You can also use samba anf copy your files on the windows server.

You'ill only need a user password declared in active directory

in that kind of situation, i suggest you to use samba in your linux machine, so you can access your linux fs directly from your windows machine without installing nfs client.

Well the problem is I need to actively access the windows drive from Linux so that I can write my backups to it. In this case what should I use so I can start figuring out how to do it?

Will smbclient allow me to mount the windows share? I have set this up in a test environment and can browse the network and windows machine that I want to store files on. However I need the windows folder to be accesable so that I can have my backup script write to that folder. I am not having any luck with smbmount either.

Thanks
