HI
I have Redhat Linux Advanced server 2.1 system .
Kernel version ---
Linux benk 2.4.9-e.3 #1 Fri May 3 17:02:43 EDT 2002 i686 unknown

I want to upgrade to kernel version to 2.4.9-e.12 or above.
Downloaded rpm kernel-2.4.9-e.24.src.rpm & kernel-2.4.9-e.30.src.rpm from Redhat site & installed using
#rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.9-e.24.src.rpm &
#rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.9-e.30.src.rpm
It shows kernel got installed but kernel not getting upgraded .Even not showing it under /usr/src .

Can anyone help me on the same.
It's very urgent for me .

You are installing the Source upgrades, not the kernel binaries. You will not see a kernel upgrade until you 1) compile the source, or 2) install the binaries. You also have to reboot, which I presume you knew.

As to where the source is, you may need to keep searching, it's around there somewhere if the Source RPM installed fine.
