Hello all,
I'm currently hosting my own 3 domains running my own dns/web servers. Has anyone had any problems with the .info
extension or no if there is anything different about the dns. I,m thinking of registering the .info names as well for my domains and just wondering if there are any problems under rh 7.1.

thanks

Hi,

I can't see why there would be any problems with .info or any other new tld. As long as the dns server talks to the internet dns root servers (and it wouldn't get far if it didn't) it will get pointed at the name servers for .info . You should get something like this from 'dig NS info' :

; <<>> DiG 8.3 <<>> ns info
;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch
;; got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 4
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 2
;; QUERY SECTION:
;;info, type = NS, class = IN

;; ANSWER SECTION:
info.2D IN NSTLD1.NOMINUM.com.
info.2D IN NSTLD2.NOMINUM.com.

;; ADDITIONAL SECTION:
TLD1.NOMINUM.com.2D IN A198.133.199.100
TLD2.NOMINUM.com.2D IN A192.100.59.100

In terms of zone files, etc., these would be identical to any other zone files you, e.g., a .com domain .

Hope this helps
