RH 6.2 HELP with sendmail

I need to set up my RH 6.2 sever for SMTP, I have never set up Sendmail, but I can tell you it is running. If I go into Linuxconf what needs to be filled in to set the server up for SMTP. Any help would be appreciated. I do not need anything special just plain and simple ability to send out mail. thanks

Scott,

First, figure out what domains you will be handling mail for. Setup & configuration of 1 domain from 100 is MUCH different.

You're almost better of with postfix if your just dealing with a few domains... faster/easier to administer.

Next, I would recommend that you first discuss what kind of load you will be seeing on this server? 100, 1000 or 100,000 messages per day.

Once you've decided the major decisions, talk to your ISP or whoever had Administrative control of your domain name & public IP ranges and ask them to create/modify a MX record to point it at this e-mail server.


Add Users. Add sugar, water and bake for 20 minutes...

Oh, almost forgot BACKUP your CONFIGURATION FILES!!!
