RG59 Distance Limitation 1

Are there any distance limitations on RG59(not QS).This will be used for a survielence camera.
 
Well sure, RG6 may be 'better' by having lower loss than 59 (assuming you meant 59), and of course RG11 would be even lower loss (i.e. better), and of course foam dielectric semi rigid coax (heliax or hardline) may be even 'better' or less lossy. However, depending on the length of the runs, there may be no benefit to increasing the size (reducing the loss) of the coax.

Another option would be Cat5. Nitek and NVT are two companies that make coax to UTP converters. It gives you greater distance and you can run 4 cameras down one Cat5.

NVT says that you can power your cameras off the same Cat5 wire, this is a bad idea. You need at least 18 gauge wire for power.
